Zakhmi Sipahi (1993) is a romantic comedy drama film directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, with Mithun Chakraborty and Sanghavi in the lead roles. The film has Mithun in the title role of a man who is a gentle loner and he gets in love with a college girl and how his family and the girl's family fight over the decision of the girl to marry the man. Sanghavi is the heroine, while Kader Khan, Bindu and Puneet Issar are the supporting roles. The film was a moderate hit and has a cult following. The film was remade in Kannada in 1996 as Zakhmi Sipahi by Dwarakish.
The plot revolves around a clerk named Badri (Mithun Chakraborty) who is very sensitive to nature and believes that everything should go on its own without any interference. His hometown is the outskirts of Calcutta, where his entire family lives, including his parents, elder sister and younger brother, who works as a clerk in a small store. As he is very much detached from everyone around, he does not attend any functions or weddings in his hometown. After going to college in the city, he starts to make friends. While doing so, he falls in love with a college student, Radhika (Sanghavi), who is the only one for him. There is a second love story in the film, in which a young girl named Shruti (played by Bindu) falls in love with him and keeps on telling him about her love, but Badri does not pay any attention. During this, there is a row between Badri's family and Radhika's family, and Radhika chooses to marry the other guy.
The director has also given a romantic touch to the film by adding song-and-dance sequences and a few special appearances by famous actors like Kader Khan, Bindu, Puneet Issar, Lalita Pawar, Supriya Pathak, Ashish Vidyarthi, Sajjan Kudiyan, Shammi, Ashalata Wabgaonkar, and many others.
The film also had a music director, D D Diddy, who has given very good songs for the movie, which are highly appreciated in the film industry. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Prasannan Parames 0b46394aab
